2017 Fitness Trends That Will Wow You!

Fitness & Technology Continue to Grow Closer

In the last few years we’ve seen fitness and technology grow a closer relationship, with apps and devices that help you track your health and fitness. Technology has even made working out more accessible for the masses. At Body Love Athletica, we try to keep up with the latest fitness and exercise advances, so we’ve compiled a list of the 2017 fitness trends that you’ll want to look forward to.

Wearables

Wearables are still going strong in the market. In fact, big brands like Apple and Fitbit are projected to release updated versions of their products this year. According to business and technology writer Samuel Greengard, last year he stated, “Those likely to purchase Wearables are tech savvy, hyper-social, and style conscious. An overwhelming 89 percent said they are comfortable with technology and 69 percent reported that technology plays a big role in their life. In fact, 71 percent said they are interested in owning a smart watch, 63 percent said they desire a fitness tracking device, 18 percent wanted eyewear or a heads-up display and 24 percent seek smart clothing.”

He taps into a few different trends that are happening at once. For fitness buffs, wearing smart watches and fitness bands that track your route, heart rate, and pace is great for tracking your overall performance. However, this is now ranging from the casual cardio morning jogger to those training for marathons. Due to smart watches, people have become increasingly more comfortable with having more of a relationship with technology outside of their phones. For now, the capacity exists within watches but there has even been talk about other accessories, like rings, earbuds, and even VR gear. For those interested in Wearables, this can be an exciting year to see what other accessories (even clothes!) become “smarter.”

On-Demand Streaming Fitness Services

More and more people are working out at home, for different reasons that range from the inconvenience of traveling to a gym, to the cost of classes and memberships. Most of the streaming fitness websites offer free trial memberships to really grab potential members. The convenience of these types of sites is being able to watch from multiple devices (like your phone and tablet) anytime, anywhere. Check out Pilatesology, Daily Burn, and Physique 57 to name a few that you’ll really enjoy. Try alternating between them when your free trial memberships run out so you’ll really see which ones work best for you!

Fitness Apps

Nowadays it’s easy to download a fitness app for your phone, yet many people haven’t tapped into this particular type of convenience. Whether you’re using an Android or an iOS device, most apps can be found on both systems. Charity Miles is an app that helps you earn money for charities every time you run, walk, or bicycle by using the free app. According to PC Mag “corporate sponsors agree to donate a few cents for every mile you complete.” Fitbit has an app that doesn’t have to use their wrist tracker. This means the Fitbit app can count your steps (assuming you’re carrying your phone with you when you walk), helps track calories you consume, logs your weight, and records other health information, like blood pressure and glucose levels.

There are countless other apps, which include diet apps, apps for cyclists, training apps, and even an app like MyFitnessPal. MyFitnessPal is a mobile app and website that gives you the tools for tracking what and how much you eat, as well as how many calories you burn through your activities. This app also has the largest database of foods and drinks and is one of the easiest apps to manage.
